Description
Screen printing is one of the first printing processes used to decorate optical discs (CD/DVD) since they were first introduced as media for music, data storage, electronic games and movies.
Screen printing offers several key characteristics that make it an attractive method for printing optical discs: ink opacity, ink brilliance, decorative design options, and most importantly, fast production cycle times and unaffected disc performance.
In the optical disc industry, screen printing is used to apply the graphics to the top-side of the polycarbonate optical disc. In most cases, the companies that screen print discs are also disc manufacturers who master and replicate the media. The majority of these companies will also package the discs and perform the CD/DVD fulfillment.
